Suits and jackets

Suit cleaning in Amsterdam

A suit is not an ordinary garment. There is interlining, a shoulder construction and usually a finely twisted wool. We clean it gently and then press it back into shape by hand.

  • Jacket € 12.95, two-piece suit € 23.90
  • Jacket and trousers always cleaned together to keep the colour matched
  • Form-finished and then hand-pressed on lapels and shoulders
  • Alterations and repairs can be done in the same visit

Why suits need a different programme

Under the outer cloth of a jacket sits an interlining that gives it shape. In cheaper suits it is fused, in better ones it is stitched in. Fused interlining can separate under too much heat or agitation, after which the front panels bubble permanently. No amount of pressing repairs that.

So we clean suits on a programme with low agitation and a low drying temperature, then finish on a form and by hand. The lapel keeps its roll, the shoulder seam stays clean and the trouser crease returns exactly where it belongs.

A suit does not need cleaning after every wear. Two to four times a season is enough for most people unless something has been spilled. Over-cleaning wears the cloth faster than wearing it does.

Always clean the full suit

Clean jacket and trousers together even when only one is soiled. Otherwise the two pieces drift apart in colour and you will see it in daylight.

What we do with your suit

  • Check for stains, holes, loose buttons and damaged lining
  • Empty and set aside the contents of every pocket
  • Pre-treat stains by hand, choosing a product per stain type
  • Clean on a programme suited to wool, blends or cotton
  • Form-finish, then hand-press lapels, shoulders and collar
  • Return trousers with a sharp crease, on a clamp hanger

Tuxedos, three-piece and wedding suits

For weddings, galas and formal dinners we also clean tuxedos, three-piece suits and wedding suits. Satin lapels and silk trims are pressed with less pressure so the sheen survives.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to clean a suit in Amsterdam?
A two-piece suit costs € 23.90 and a three-piece € 32.85. A jacket alone is € 12.95 and trousers € 10.95, with pressing included.
How often should a suit be cleaned?
Two to four times per season for most wearers. Air it on a broad hanger between wears and brush it down; that reduces the number of cleans and extends the life of the cloth.
Can my suit be ready the same day?
Often yes. Drop off before 12:00 and call +31 20 618 0764 to check whether it fits the schedule.
Can you shorten the trousers?
Yes, from € 12.50, including versions with a split or turn-up. Combine it with cleaning and the suit comes back finished.
My jacket front is bubbling. Can that be fixed?
If the fused interlining has separated, unfortunately not: the fault is in the construction. We will tell you honestly whether pressing will improve it.
